Alan is a distinguished engineering and innovation leader with extensive experience across the energy, resources, and research sectors. He is best known for founding and leading the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER), where he built one of Australia's leading industry-research collaboration hubs and facilitated major partnerships across government, industry and academia.
Alan brings significant expertise in strategic leadership, governance, innovation, stakeholder engagement and sustainable industry development. As a Director of Tyree Group, he contributes deep insight into emerging industries, energy transition opportunities and long-term growth initiatives.
