Manufacturing Power Solutions for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific

New Zealand and the Pacific

Overview

Network operators buy for a thirty-year asset life, not a project. Every unit has to satisfy type test and MEPS obligations, match what is already on the network, and be replaceable without a six-month wait. Tyree has supplied Australian and New Zealand distribution networks since 1946.

What network operators need from a transformer supplier

Type testing and MEPS registration are the entry ticket. Beyond that, an operator is managing a fleet: units have to match existing footprints, bushing arrangements and protection schemes so a replacement drops into a site built twenty years ago without redesign.

Efficiency is both a compliance matter and a cost. MEPS sets the floor, and losses across a distribution fleet compound over decades, so the gap between a compliant unit and a well-designed one is measured across the tens of thousands of hours it spends energised.

Then there is availability. Emergency replacement is where local manufacturing earns its premium. Tyree holds safety stock on key raw materials, often exceeding six months of consumption, and manufactures in Australia and New Zealand, so an outage is a production conversation rather than a shipping one.
