Overview
A plant upgrade means a transformer, a substation, a switchboard and kilometres of cable, usually from four suppliers with four lead times and four people to chase when something does not line up. Tyree makes all of it.
What manufacturing plants need from their electrical supply
The loads are hard on the supply. Large motors, drives and welding plant draw starting currents and inject harmonics that a specification written against nameplate demand will not survive, so equipment has to be sized against what the plant actually does.
Most work is brownfield. New equipment goes into a live plant with existing switchrooms, existing cable routes and a shutdown window measured in days, which means it has to fit constraints nobody would choose and be commissioned faster than anyone would like.
Then there is coordination. When the transformer, the substation, the switchboard and the cable come from four suppliers, the gaps between them become the plant’s problem. From one manufacturer, they are ours.
