Moreton Bay Rail Link

Tyree has recently supplied twelve new 25,000V Booster Transformers and three 25,000V Auxiliary Supply Transformers as part of the Moreton Bay Rail Link (MBRL) project. The Moreton Bay Rail link incorporates 12.6 kilometres of additional heavy gauge dual-track rail line connecting between Petrie and Kippa-Ring on the Redcliffe peninsula in the South East of Queensland, further extending the QR City train suburban link on the Caboolture line.

Proven by full type testing, including full short circuit testing, the 25,000V Booster Transformers are continuously rated at 300 amps, with an overload rating of 600amps for 10 seconds and a short circuit rating of 3 seconds.

Mounted trackside these transformers feature an impulse rating of 250kVpeak and a galvanised tank construction. This project demonstrates Tyree Transformer’s ongoing commitment to providing specialised transformers to the rail transport sector in Australian and New Zealand through our extensive in house engineering capability in the design, manufacture and servicing of a comprehensive range of transformers for the rail sector, including, 25kV traction transformers, traction rectifier transformers, reactors, auxiliary supply transformers, kiosk substations and power transformers.
