Tyree scholarship recipients visit Braemar Factory
Last week, we proudly welcomed our 2025 Scholars to Tyree Transformers for the annual Sir William Tyree Foundation (SWTF) Factory Day.
The two-day experience offered Scholars a comprehensive look into Tyree’s advanced manufacturing operations, the opportunity to engage with key leaders, and a firsthand understanding of Australia’s cutting-edge research landscape at ANSTO.
At Tyree, Scholars toured our manufacturing facilities, participated in a Q&A session with key leaders, and concluded the day with a shared dinner in the picturesque Southern Highlands - a chance to reflect and connect.
Sam Ryan, a Civil Engineering student from RMIT, shared his reflections on his favourite part of the event:
“I came in not knowing a lot about transformers. Walking through the factories - it was good to see how they were made from the ground up. From fabrication to seeing the coils, learning about the step-by-step process has widened my knowledge. I’ve also found it really interesting learning about how the business is operated - production, efficiency, working with people, and the industry.”
A huge thank you to our partners at ANSTO, the SWTF Board, and our dedicated team for making this experience so impactful. And most importantly, thank you to our Scholars - your curiosity, energy, and passion are exactly what the future of engineering needs.
