Sir William Tyree Foundation continues support of Challenge Southern Highlands

The Sir William Tyree Foundation recently made a gift of $140,000 to Challenge Southern Highlands for the purchase of two new utility vehicles including trailers and gardening equipment. Challenge is a not for profit NDIS service provider who provides meaningful employment, training and transitional accommodation for over 60 adults with disabilities from the Southern Highlands. Challenge services include operating the Welby Garden Centre & the provision of gardening maintenance, secure document destruction, packaging and pallet manufacturing services.

The new vehicles and equipment will allow Challenge to double the size of its gardening service field crews to meet the increasing demand for supported employee positions in the region.

In announcing the gift The Sir William Tyree Foundation Chairperson Robbie Fennell (nee Tyree) stated; “The Tyree Foundation is a long term supporter of Challenge Southern Highlands and we are very pleased to continue to support the ongoing expansion of their services by supporting local people from the Southern Highlands. It also very pleasing to be giving back to the community in which the Tyree Transformers business has its major operations and a region in which our family has close ties.”
