The company has been successfully designing, manufacturing and supplying distribution transformers from the Mittagong site for over 20 years. The Tyree family has been involved in transformer manufacturing since 1946.
The Tyree manufacturing plant facilities include transformer core manufacture, coil winding, assembly equipment, transformer drying equipment, oil preservation, conditioning, degassing and filling. Tyree have a specifically designed tank fabrication shop utilizing NC cutting, robot welders, and a dedicated subcontractors galvanizing line. The company also has a production test facility that 100% tests each product dispatched to AS/IEC routine tests.
By embracing the latest Lean Manufacturing Principles Tyree has increased “OEE” (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) along with significant reduction in manufacturing variances through Six Sigma methodologies. This equates to high levels of consistency, flexibility and predictability throughout the Operations. Not only have these improvements been applied to the pole mount range, but over the last decade Tyree has expanded vertically into the manufacture of Industrial Distribution transformers to 5000kVA.
